ULI in Action

ULI was founded 75 years ago on the idea that the world would benefit from an organization dedicated to developing leadership in the responsible use of land in order to create and sustain thriving communities worldwide. That’s the mission we support here in the Triangle.

As members, all of us aim to improve the quality of the places we live, and we believe this starts with an open sharing of practical experience and pragmatic solutions.

ULI in Action

The Urban Land Institute manages a number of community outreach programs, like the Advisory Services Panels at the national level and the Technical Advisory Panels (TAPs) at the local level, that address community development issues.  By engaging land use professionals and other stakeholders to resolve complex land use, development  and redevelopment problems, ULI members are making a difference in their hometowns.

Through Reality Check Visioning Exercises and other collaborative efforts, ULI members and District Councils work with stakeholders to implement consensus-based solutions for better communities, in areas such as workforce housing, regional cooperation and visioning, public sector outreach and urban initiatives.

Additionally, to encourage entrepreneurial projects at the state, regional and local levels that build community consensus for action and change, the  ULI Foundation Annual Fund provides funding for Urban Innovation Grants, which support ULI District Council projects that recognize or launch innovative public-private partnerships and advance the responsible use of land in building healthy, thriving communities worldwide.
