Women Build 2019
It will come as no surprise to ULI members that the Triangle is one of the top areas for urban development in the country – creating a massive demand for new carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and HVAC professionals. 70% of construction companies nationwide are having trouble finding qualified workers, and just as the market for construction workers has tightened, there has been a decline in the number of jobseekers. All of this means there are lots of jobs available, with excellent job security. And in 2017, only 4% of North Carolina’s construction workers were women!
Join WLI as we partner with NCWorks NEXTGEN Durham to engage the next generation of women leaders in construction and real estate. Women panelists with unique construction industry perspectives will share in a facilitated career exploration experience with participants – sparking curiosity and building confidence that disconnected Triangle youth can achieve meaningful careers in the construction trades.
