Round Table | Rocky Mount Mills Tour (Members Only)
Two hundred years ago Rocky Mount Mills began its operation as a cotton mill. Today, Capitol Broadcasting Company (CBC) is breathing new life into the mill and mill village, repurposing the mill into a brewery incubator, renovating and renting the mill houses, attracting corporate offices and creating a mixed-use destination for eastern North Carolina.
We’ll take a deep dive into the history of the site and learn why CBC decided to redevelop the 160-acre river front site in a small town in eastern NC. The panel will explore themes of building community, opportunities and challenges for development in rural locales, and how the town has reacted to the influx of new residents and businesses. We’ll also tour the renovated homes and mill, discuss the business case for the project, and of course, drink beer, eat and socialize.
